This is my very first post in my cookery blog. This is my version of making chana masala and everyone loves it at home. Here goes the recipe.

2. Big Onion - 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
3. Sambhar powder - 2 tsp
4. Dhaniya powder/ Coriander powder -1/2tsp
5. Chana Masala powder - 1 tsp
6. Salt - As needed
7. Lemon juice - from half of small lemon
8. Kasuri methi for garnish

To saute and grind:

1. Small onion -6
2. Tomatoes - 2 medium sized
3. Fennel - 1/2tsp
4. Garlic-6 small cloves
5. Ginger - a small piece
6. Red chilli (small) - 3
7. Pepper- 1/2 tsp
8. Oil - 2tsp

To temper:

1. Oil - 2tsp
2. Bayleaf -1
3. Cloves -2
4. Cinnamon - small piece
5. Curry leaves - 4 to 5

Method:-

1. Soak chana with water overnight or for atleast for 6 to 7 hours. Pressure cook them with enough water till soft.
2. Saute and grind the ingredients given in the list. Saute till the onions must turn a bit brown and the raw smell of tomato leaves and turns mushy.

3. In a cooker temper the items under the 'To temper' list.
4. Add the big onion chopped finely and fry till golden brown. Add the ground paste and saute for a while.
5. Add the masala powders and salt and mix well. Add the cooked chana and pressure cook for 1 more whistle.
6. Open the cooker and achieve the desired consistency by adding liitle water if too thick and let it simmer for sometime. Once done, squeeze lemon juice and garnish with kasuri methi and switch off.

Notes:

1. Adjust the spice factor according to your taste.
